Leikanger Barneskule donating money

Leikanger barneskule (the primary school of Leikanger) has made it a tradition that the 4th grade are in charge of making an annual arrangement, with the purpose of gathering money to different projects for the benefit of children in Africa. In the beginning, a primary school in Zambia were getting to donations, later years the donations have been given to organizations helping children in Zululand. This year, the donation is divided between 2 organizations and Children of Zululand is one of them. The donation to us was NOK 17.550 – a significant contribution to a great purpose.

As part of the humanitary Project at Leikanger barneskule, the students have spent their art and Crafts lessons to make different things for a lottery that was part of the annual arrangement. Students, their parents and the school staff have knitted squares for a big quilted cover/blanket and baked pastry for the lottery.

One of the teachers, Bodil, has been to Zululand several times and she even has a sponsored child there. She has bought small items on her trips, that she donated to the lottery and she also has been visiting all the classes in Leikanger barneskule to tell them about Zululand and showed pictures from her last trip to Zululand in February this year, together with Children of Zululand.

This years humanitary project was held on the 200 years Norwegian Constitutional Jubilee, on June 5th. There were a lot of people and a very good atmosphere.

Children of Zululand appreciate the donation from Leikanger barneskule and on behalf of King Dinazulu Creche we say a big THANK YOU to all the children, the parents and the school staff in Leikanger for making this very nice contribution. Leikanger barneskule has requested that the money will be spent to provide King Dinazulu Creche food for the children that are there and we will make sure the money are spent on that purpose. We are also proud to say that we don’t hold back any money for administrational purposes – the entire donation goes directly to the purpose attended, in Zululand.
